EHG116 - Trial trenching - Lochloy Road, Nairn
Technique(s)
Organisation
Stuart Farrell
Date
Oct 1996
Description
An evaluation comprising the excavation of eight trial trenches was carried out by S Farrell in 1996 on a site off Lochloy Road, Nairn in advance of a proposed housing development. The trenches were placed to cover the area of the development and part of the access road. All the trenches were machine excavated and trench 4 was hand cleaned and a representative section drawn. No archaeological features were exposed and all the trenches revealed depsoits of sand. It was considered that the area may have been a continuation of the area to the east known as Culbin Sands. <1>
