Date

Oct2004

Description

An archaeological walk-over survey of an area to be felled and replanted at Culloden Woods was carried out by Highland Archaeology Services in 2004. The survey was confined to the area to be replanted. This was walked systematically in 3 transects running parallel to the northern site boundary, approximately east-west through the site, and the ground (including the root-plates of fallen trees) examined for signs of archaeological features. The walk-over survey did not reveal any clear indications of such sites visible on the present ground surface. There were no recommendations for further archaeological work. <1>
