EHG121 - Geophysical survey - Priesthill
Technique(s)
Organisation
Glasgow University (GUARD)
Date
March 1992
Description
In March 1992, GUARD carried out a geophysical survey on behalf of Highland Regional Council in advance of the realignment of the A9 at Delny, just north of Invergordon. The reason for the assessment was the presence of cropmark features revealed on two aerial photographs. These show a large rectilinear feature upslope frm the road, below Priesthill Farm. The purpose of the assessment was to investigate whether there were any further archaeological features downslope which would be in the path of the new road alignment. The drift geology was reasonably conducive to magnetic survey, consisting of topsoil overlying silty sand and some gravel. <1>
