Description

An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Orkney Arcjaeological Trust in 2005 during the removal of topsoil onto natural subsoil ahead of the digging of foundations of two proposed houses at Nipster, Gillock, Caithness. The work comprised monitoring of machine removal of topsoil for both plots with their access routes and septic tank locations. The combined areas of the trenches opened covered an area of 690m². No features or deposits of archaeological interest were uncovered and only one sherd of modern ceramic, C19 – 20, was retrieved from the ploughsoil. <1>
