Technique(s)

Organisation

Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey (AALS)

Date

November 2006

Description

Two visits were made to this site following reports of bones eroding out of a soil bank. The site proved to consist of a massive midden representing the fill of a large rock shelter lying just above the high tide line. Visible in the eroding face of the midden was a cultural layer c.500mm thick. A second visit was made in order to the record the site fully and to set erosion markers. The site was planned, using offset survey, and two profiles were drawn. Sections drawings of the eroding midden face could not be completed due to lack of time and a rising tide, but a photo-mosaic was taken. Video records were made of both visits. <1>, <2>
