Description

Archaeological survey at Bottom Wood, Embo was commissioned by Historic Scotland and conducted by AOC (Scotland) Ltd in advance of proposed forestry development. The survey area was one large field, located 600 m west of Embo. The area consists of rough pasture, covered mainly by tussocky grass with a few small areas of reed and thistle. The western third of the area has been heavily affected by vehicular tracks, burning of waste and the excavation of animal burial pits. In addition, gravel and sand extraction is being conducted, on a small scale, on the land immediately to the east of the survey area. <1>
