EHG231 - Trial trenching - Nairn Rd, Ardersier
Technique(s)
Organisation
Cannich Archaeological Services
Date
April 1998
Description
Trial trenching was carried out by Cannich Archaeological Services at Nairn Road, Ardersier in 1998 in advance of a proposed housing development. The only major drawback was the presence of surface water in the north corner of the site, and a high water-table elsewhere, which meant that many of the trenches filled with water in a fairly short time. This did not hinder observation of the trench bottom. It made work in the north part of the east area impossible, however. Apart from plough marks in the subsoil no archaeological features were exposed. <1>
