EHG3098 - Watching brief at Croft Scalliach, Dulnain Bridge

Technique(s)

Organisation

Stuart Farrell

Date

October 2009

Description

A watching brief was conducted during ground-breaking works for a new house with associated access and services. Topsoil was stripped across an area of c900 square metres to a maximum depth of 30cm. A few sherds of white glazed pottery and glass were found in the topsoil which are probably from the adjacent croft. No archaeological features were observed during the works. There was no sign of the well depicted on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map, although a small well with a small stone structure and cast-iron pipe was noted in the northern boundary wall. <1>
