EHG3128 - Archaeological evaluation at Corry Road, Muir of Ord

Technique(s)

Organisation

Highland Heritage

Date

April 2008

Description

Four trial trenches were dug to assess a 5 percent sample of this proposed housing development site. No structures, deposits or artefacts were located other than deposits assumed to be associated with the railway goods yard. The presence of waterlogged sands, noted in Trench 1, indicates that the site may have been waterlogged before 19th-century drainage and may have been unsuitable for settlement or cultivation. It is considered that no further archaeological work is required. <1>
