Technique(s)
Organisation
Archaeological Services WYAS
Date
Oct 2007
Description
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey covering 10.13 hectares, was carried out on land on the northern outskirts of Dornoch, Sutherland in advance of the proposed development of the site. On the lower lying parts of the site numerous anomalies caused by the prevailing superficial drift deposits were identified. Two rectilinear anomalies that may be indicative of enclosures were also identified. On the basis of the survey the archaeological potential of the site cannot be dismissed. <1>
