EHG3211 - Trial trenching - land at Upper Cullernie, Balloch

Technique(s)

Organisation

Stuart Farrell

Date

Nov 2009

Description

Seven trial trenches were excavated on the site of a proposed hosing development. The trenches were 2 metres wide and were stripped of topsoil which ranged from 0.5m to 1.8m in depth. A total area of 278.4 square metres was examined with no archaeological deposits or features being identified. Due to the level of previous disturbance on the site and the difficulties in excavating a sufficient sample, it was recommended that a watching brief be carried out during subsequent ground breaking works (see EHG3212). <1>
