Date
July 2010
Description
Headland Archaeology Ltd was commissioned by Falck Renewables Ltd to carry out a programme of archaeological works in advance of and during construction of the extension to Kilbraur Wind Farm, Strath Brora, Highland. The work followed a specification approved by Highland Council Planning and Development Service (Archaeology Unit). The first part of the programme consisted of a marking-out survey to establish protective buffer zones around known archaeological sites in the vicinity of Turbines 3–5. At Turbine 3, a 10m diameter circle was established around relevant shooting butts (site reference HA 20). At Turbines 4 and 5, buffers were established 10m outside the head dykes of the abandoned townships of Ballynacairdach and Meall Odhar, respectively. <1>
