EHG3537 - Watching brief - Passing Places M, N, O, Knocknagael
Technique(s)
Organisation

Date
January 2010
Description
A watching brief was conducted during the excavation of three passing places:
Passing place M had also been disturbed by a previous electrical cable trench cut and redeposited
mixed material. This was not excavated to full depth and no features of archaeological significance
were recorded.
Passing place N also contained an electrical cable trench and backfilled redeposited soil. This was not
excavated to full depth and no features of archaeological significance were recorded.
Directly adjacent to this site, on the SSW side of the road behind a post and wire fence, a line of
boulders was identified and recorded. The boulders ran along the line of the road for approximately
25m. These were not excavated. They are apprently the remains of a former boundary – perhaps the
footings for a turf dyke.
Passing place O had also been disturbed by a previous electrical cable trench cut and redeposited
mixed material. This was not excavated to full depth and no features of archaeological significance
were recorded. <1>
