Date

July 2011

Description

Trial trenching was conducted by AOC Archaeology in 2011 in the area south of the John O'Groats Hotel, Caithness, following prior geophysical survey (see EHG3577). Thirty-three trenches were excavated within geophysical survey areas 3 and 4 covering 3000m², 10% of the development site. The trenches varied in size and orientation. Two stone features that may have been the remains of stone clearance or field boundaries plus a small number of probable field drains were identified. <1>
