Organisation

Date

July 2011

Description

Trial trenching was conducted by AOC Archaeology in 2011 in the area south of the John O'Groats Hotel, Caithness, following prior geophysical survey (see EHG3575). Thirty-three trenches were excavated within geophysical survey areas 3 and 4 covering 3000m², 10% of the development site. The trenches varied in size and orientation. Two stone features that may have been the remains of stone clearance or field boundaries plus a small number of probable field drains were identified. <1>
