Date

Description

Archaeological work, in the form of a controlled strip, was carried out by C Dagg in 2012 during ground breaking work associated with the construction of a new house and garage at Fasaig, Gairloch, Wester Ross as a condition of planning consent. This revealed that the ground had not been previously cleared for vegetation or settlement, despite proximity to two hut circles. There was no evidence for any build up of soils before the commencement of peat formation. A shallow cut, probably associated with peat cutting at the east edge of the site was the only evidence for human activity. <1>
