EHG3751 - Site visit and photographic survey - Ard-a-Chulish, Contin
Technique(s)
Organisation
Scotia Archaeology Ltd
Date
June 2005
Description
A basic photographic survey of the surviving remains of the settlement was carried out by Scotia Archaeology in 2005 in advance of the proposed replacement of the Torr Achilty to Garve 33kV power line by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE). A detailed assessment of the settlement was beyond the remit of the project. It was difficult to assess the full range of surviving structures because of the height and spread of bracken. The objective of the site visit was to determine a safe location (or locations) in which to place a new pole (or poles) to carry the replacement overhead cable and to mark the perceived limits of the former settlement to ensure its integrity was preserved during the proposed operations. <1>
