Description

A walkover survey was carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2009 in advance of the submission of planning application for a proposed extension to the Balblair Quarry near Beauly. The results of the survey were incorporated into an Environmental Impact Assessment. It established that the area contained prehistoric features comprising a probable burial cairn, enclosures and a clearance cairn. The features were considered to be of regional or lesser importance. The proposed quarry extension would remove all archaeological assets present. <1>
