EHG4158 - Watching brief and recording - Garve to Strathpeffer, Ross-shire

Technique(s)

Organisation

West Coast Archaeological Services

Date

Aug-Oct 2011

Description

An archaeological watching brief and excavation was carried out by WCAS in August 2011 as a result of recommendations from survey work undertaken in 2010 (see EHG3486), along the new water main line between Garve and Strathpeffer and archaeological interests within 50m. However, at the last minute, WCAS was informed of changes to the route location and to the equipment used for construction. As a consequence the fieldwork centred on rescue recording of the portion of previously unknown C18th Caulfield military road. <1>
