Description
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey covering approximately 27ha was carried out by West Yorkshire Archaeology Service on behalf of Headland Archaeology at the preferred location of the proposed Caithness Converter Station, south of Halkirk. Anomalies indicative of quarrying / infilling, drainage / land improvement, post-medieval agricultural activity and geological variation were identified. No anomalies of obvious archaeological potential were identified. On the basis of the magnetic survey the archaeological potential of the site was considered to be low. <1>
