EHG4192 - Walkover Survey - Allt Choire a' Bhalachain Hydro Scheme
Technique(s)
Organisation
Highland Archaeology Services Ltd
Date
July 2012
Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey was undertaken by Highland Archaeology Services in 2012 in advance of submission of a planning application for a hydro-electric scheme at Allt Choire a Bhalachain in Glen Garry. Within the footprint of the proposed development, the footings of a farmstead were noted in the vicinity of the planned turbine house. Otherwise the penstock line and intake areas were clear of archaeological concerns. The fieldwork also included a GPS survey of features outwith the development at the request of Forestry Commission Scotland which included several former buildings, livestock pens and small quarry pits, none of which would be affected by the currently proposed scheme.<1> <2>
