Technique(s)

Organisation

Archaeological and Ancient Landscape Survey (AALS)

Date

April 2002

Description

A desk-based assessment and a walk-over survey were carried M Wildgoose in April 2002 in advance of a proposed wind farm development at Ben Aketil near Feorlig, Skye. A total of 10 previously recorded archaeological sites were noted during the DBA. A further 20 were identified during the walkover survey. Of these, 12 were considered to be at direct risk from the development. The work could be diverted away from or be bypassed in all but one case. This remaining site, a ruined farmstead, whilst neither particularly old or rare was a well preserved example of its type dating to the C17-C19. <1>
