Technique(s)

Organisation

Stuart Farrell

Date

June 2013

Description

A DBA and walkover survey was carried out by S Farrell in 2013 for an area of proposed forestry covering 55 hectares at Skelpick, Strathnaver, Sutherland. Work revealed a number of unrecorded archaeological sites of clearance cairns, shielings, structures and sheepfold, most probably dating to the post-medieval period. A number of recommendations were made in relation to the proposed scheme, which included creating 5-10m exclusion zones around sites. <1>
