Description

A desk-based assessment was undertaken by SAC staff in August 2005 in advance of a proposed quarry extension at Glensanda, Morven, Lochaber. Both the extension area and the Glensanda Estate were assessed; no archaeological sites were discovered in the former; ten areas were located in the latter. The quarry istelf has been mentioned as a site of interest as areas of industry become an increasing focus for archaeologists. All other archaeological sites, including the Glensanda castle, bothy and farm are a minimum of 2.7km from the quarry face; this distance was to remain the same during the quarry extension. It was therefore concluded that there would be no impact on the known archaeological sites from the proposed extension. <1>
