Date

Dec 2007

Description

A DBA and walk-over survey was carried out by Arcus Consultancy Services in 2007 in advance of a proposed wind turbine development project at Olgrinmore, Halkirk, Caithness. No new features were identified that had not been discovered during the desk based assessment. The main feature noted within the site area was Appat Hill Cairn which was to be fenced off during construction to prevent any accidental encroachment. No other features within the 5km buffer were considered at significant risk of impact from the development. Mitigation suggestions included: photographic records of the farmsteads within the development zone, recording of a central boundary feature, core-sampling to recover potential archaeological environmental samples for preservation and for a watching brief to be carried out during construction where significant groundworks are expected. <1>
