Technique(s)

Organisation

CFA Archaeology Ltd

Date

Feb 2004

Description

A DBA was carried out by CFA Archaeology Ltd in February 2004 for the grid-connector route in advance of a proposed wind farm development at Dunmaglass, Strathnairn. Thirty archaeological sites were identified within the proposed site boundary. These sites were all of medieval or later rural settlement date. The individual sites were considered to be component parts of an integrated and well preserved pre-Clearance settlement system. One Category B Listed Building lies within 10km of the turbines and was predicted to receive an indirect impact. Mitigation measures were considered to propose an acceptable level of impact that would not be in conflict with the aims of national, regional and local planning policy in regards to cultural heritage. <1>
