Description

A desk-based assessment, walkover survey and topographic survey were undertaken by the Centre for Field Archaeology (CFA) in May 1999 near Kyle of Lochalsh. The work was commissioned by North of Scotland Water Authority in advance of a proposed water treatment works. A total of 17 archaeological sites and monuments were identified within the proposed development area. The results of the work suggested that the survey area contained an archaeological landscape which was generally of low archaeological potential, but contained at least two monuments of Regional and Local importance. Features included a possible hut circle, clearance cairns and a possible shieling hut. <1> <2>
