Description
A DBA and walkover survey were carried out by CFA Archaeology Ltd in February 2011 in advance of a proposed wind farm development at Dalnessie, North of Lairg, Sutherland. Fifty-nine sites were recorded within the walkover area. It was recommended that watching briefs be carried out in several locations including where the site access and delivery route was to be upgraded near to a former farmstead, where the site access track upgrading passes close to two scheduled monuments and two possible hut circles and where passing places may be proposed in proximity to scheduled areas. It was suggested that otherwise there would be no predictable, significant effects on cultural heritage assets within the development area. <1>
An addendum was added to the environmental statement in 2012. Although no new work was carried out, the new layout was designed to avoid and preserve cultural heritage features. <2>
