EHG4428 - DBA and walkover survey - proposed Garn Gorm Windfarm
Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
April 2013
Description
A desk-based assessment and walkover survey were carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2013 for the development area of the proposed Carn Gorm Wind Farm and its associated access track. The whole site was systematically surveyed. No archaeological features were recorded within the windfarm footprint itself but a series of drystone wall lines, some forming enclosures, and several cairns were recorded within the route of the access track. Given the largely peat covered nature of the ground proposed for the windfarm and the identification of known post-medieval sites within the vicinity it was considered possible that buried archaeological remains may be disturbed during the construction phase and that further evaluation or mitigation works may be required. <1>
