Description
A desk based assessment and walkover survey was carried out by J G Robertson and C Dagg in May 2011 in advance of a proposed hydro-electric scheme at Coulin Estate, Lochcarron in Wester Ross. Fifteen archaeological sites were recorded including: a shooting stance, a township, a water diversion, buildings, tracks, cairns, shelters, enclosures, pits, walling, shileing huts and old road alignments. The survey consisted of a narrow strip of ground, 50m either side of the proposed pipelines, an area 50m in diameter around the intakes and 100m in diameter around the powerhouse was also investigated. <1>
