An initial site visit in November 2011 evaluated the potential impact of the development on the Scheduled Monuments and other recorded sites west of the B862 in order to inform route and site selection.
A walk-over survey, carried out in April 2012, targeted the following areas in order to identify the extent of archaeological remains: East bank of the Allt Cailtidh, south of Dunmaglass Mains. This survey located one unrecorded archaeological site (see below, site 11); and West bank of River Farigaig opposite Dunmaglass Mains along section of proposed undergrounding, passing through recorded township of Lagg (site 1).
A walk-over survey of the substation site and sections of proposed underground cable between the substation and the B851 was carried out in March 2013. <1>
