Date
Aug 2003 - Feb 2005
Description
Stuart Farrell was commissioned by the Dornoch Castle Hotel in mid August 2003 to undertake an archaeological recording project at the Dornoch Castle Hotel (NH 9619/9721) as part of a programme of alterations. Highland Council Archaeology Unit produced a specification for this work.
Work in the basement revealed an earlier range of the existing fireplace and a possible adjacent oven. Work on the first floor revealed an early 15th century fireplace that had been bricked-up in 19th century, though part of its brace was exposed for the first time since the early 19th century. <1>
