Date

June 2015

Description

Aerial and fixed point photographic surveys were conducted by AOC Archaeology Group in 2015 along a section of the Caledonian Canal at Tomnahurich in Inverness on behalf of Capita and the Highland Council. The surveys were carried out in advance of the construction of the West Link Road in Inverness. Using drone aerial photography (carried out by Stratos UAS) and ground level photography, an initial photographic record was assembled of the Caledonian Canal at Tomnahurich, Canal Park, Torvean Golf Course, the River Ness at Holm Mills and the surrounding landscape. This record provides a baseline survey of the Caledonian Canal at Tomnahurich in advance of a five year programme of development. The aerial survey also provided a useful record of the Torvean Golf Course, Inverness Leisure Centre, Tomnahurich, Torvean Hill, Canal Park and the Highland Rugby fields and the River Ness at Holm Mills. <1>
