EHG4896 - Walkover Survey - Glen Turret, NE of Roy Bridge, Lochaber

An initial walkover survey conducted in Glen Turret by the Lochaber Archaeological Society and AOC Archaeology. Desk-based study of the landscape had suggested that little or no archaeological survey had been undertaken in Glen Turret, where aerial photography and historical mapping showed there to be potential for significant unrecorded sites. An initial day of survey in Glen Turret has identified significant, previously unrecorded sites, including one possible prehistoric roundhouse, three farmsteads pre-dating the 19th century settlement, a group of shielings and other post-medieval buildings present on the site of a recorded 19th century sheep farm. <1>
