Technique(s)

Organisation

AOC Archaeology Group

Date

Early November 1999

Description

An archaeological evaluation of a proposed residential, industrial and tourist development on farmland to the west of Coishletter, Edinbane, Isle of Skye, was commissioned by Ewen Fillies Builders. After completion of a desk-based assessment, the walkover survey was undertaken in the first week of November 1999. The survey was carried out by walking transects at 10 m intervals across each of the areas. Possible archaeological monuments were marked with a cane. Once an area had been fully surveyed each monument was given a thorough examination. This included a written description, accurate sketch and a series of photographs of both the monuments and its location. This was followed by a field evaluation (see EHG166).
