Description

This evaluation covers an area of proposed new planting on Ledgowan Estate, south and west of Achnasheen in Ross-shire. The land is at present a deer forest, with a small stock of sheep and cattle, and rises from Loch a’Chroisg to the north and Loch Gowan to the east, to a height of 508m. It is drained by many small watercourses with some residual natural woodland on the slopes above loch a’Chroisg. There are two existing enclosed coniferous forestry plantations and remains of late 19th century plantings above loch Gowan. <1>
