Description

A watching brief was carried out by Highland Archaeology Services in 2016 during topsoil stripping for a new access track at Viewhill, Balloch near Inverness as part of a condition associated with a planning application (Demolition of agricultural buildings, formation of 16 house plots, upgrade of access and associated works). The stripped area was around 7.5m wide at the bell mouth (NE end) narrowing to a little over 4m along the rest of the length with two wider passing places. The stripping of the track over at least 450m did not reveal any features of cultural heritage value; five possible features identified were all concluded to be of a natural or semi natural nature. It was recommended that no further work was required. <1
