Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
Aug 2017
Description
An archaeological watching brief was conducted by AOC Archaeology during groundworks for a new biomass boiler installation at Beaufort Castle near Kiltarlity, Beauly.
The proposed works, as outlined in the Written Scheme of Investigation (AOC 2017), were to excavate a 20m by 20m area for the footing of the biomass boiler and associated ancillary structures, and to monitor the excavation of a pipeline connecting to the castle and two access points. The remnants of two walls were uncovered, one of which likely relates to the foundations of an earlier 1815 building on the site. <1>
