Date
May 2016
Description
An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey was carried out on the 6th of May 2016 on behalf of Knoydart Forest Trust in advance of two small woodland planting schemes near Inverie on the central south coast of the Knoydart Peninsula. The work was undertaken to assess the nature and extent of any archaeology likely to be affected within the areas outlined for the proposed woodland planting scheme in order to inform recommendations for the protection and management of any sites identified. The desk-based assessment revealed no previously recorded sites within the two survey areas. The walkover survey recorded 6 sites: the remains of a bridge, a shieling and rig and furrow cultivation and three boundary walls. Mitigation measures are proposed to safeguard the sites during planting and associated fencing for the woodland planting scheme. <1>
