Description

An archaeological walkover survey was undertaken by AOC Archaeology Group in 2017-18 of the proposed site for a hydro scheme at Allt Mhuic, near Achnacarry, Lochaber. The survey was undertaken on 21st July 2017, with a second visit carried out on 27th June 2018 to assess an area that had previously been under thick vegetation. Six archaeological sites were recorded, including a sheepfold, three ruinous stone buildings, a revetted stone structure and an enclosure bank. Only site 6, the enclosure bank, will be impacted by the proposed development. <1> A watching brief was subsequently carried out in 2020 during site works impacting the enclosure bank (see EHG5677).
