Description

An archaeological evaluation was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2016 in advance of construction of the new Torvean Golf Course. The evaluation was required in order to inform developers of the potential archaeology that could be found during later phases of the development. Fieldwork was carried out alongside fieldwork for the new housing development at Golf View Terrace, Torvean. In total, fifty-four previously unknown archaeological sites were recorded, consisting mainly of pits of probable prehistoric origin and linear features. Multiple field drains were also recorded across the site. Due to the presence of archaeological sites of prehistoric and possible medieval origin, targeted excavation in eleven small areas is recommended in advance of development work. <1>
