Headland Archaeology Ltd

Date

June-July 2001

Description

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Headland Archaeology in 2001 at Milton of Leys (Area 1), Inverness, Highland (NGR: NH 693 417), in advance of a proposed housing development. An earlier phase of evaluation (see EHG227 & EHG528) had identified a cluster of prehistoric features and this present phase of work was intended to more closely define the extent of this cluster. In addition to the features previously identified, further work revealed only a small scoop and a linear feature. This area is to be developed and, therefore, preservation of these features by means of excavation and reporting of the results is recommended. <1> The results of the evaluation phases and a subsequent open-area excavation (see EHG5743) were published. <2>
