EHG5187 - Excavation at Adam's Croft

Technique(s)

Organisation

Young Archaeologist's Club

Date

May 2017

Description

The Inverness Young Archaeologists Club undertook excavations over two seasons on a group of parallel linear features in Strath Sgitheach, Dingwall, Highland. Prior to these excavations these features were not noted in the Highland Historic Environment Record or on Canmore. Excavations in 2015 & 2017 revealed two turf banks, both under-laid with clay and apparently with ditches on their SW sides. Further sampling and processing eventually provided material to be dated, although it was felt this was likely only to give a date after which the banks might have been constructed. This material was radio carbon dated to 385cal BC. <1>
