Date

Description

Forestry Commission Scotland commissioned the Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA) to undertake an archaeological desk-based assessment, walkover survey, geophysical survey and excavation of the Loch Arienas kerb cairn site and environs, Morvern, Highland. The kerb cairn (Trench A) consisted of an irregular outer wall with a narrow entrance to the south-east. There was an association with quartz, some of which appeared to be worked. However, two internal pits were sterile apart from occasional charcoal. The monument was not associated with cremation burial or pyres and does not appear to have been associated with funerary practices. <1>
