EHG5234 - Evaluation - Near Bellevue Cottages, Muir of Ord
Technique(s)
Organisation
Centre for Field Archaeology, University of Edinburgh
Date
July 2000
Description
An archaeological evaluation, comprising the excavation of 17 trenches, was carried out by the Centre for Field Archaeology, University of Edinburgh, in 2000 on land near Bellvue Cottages, Muir of Ord, in advance of the proposed construction of a new waste water treatment plant. A resistivity survey had been carried out previously (see EHG301). Only three isolated features of potential archaeological interest were exposed and recorded, two of which had been identified as anomalies in the geophysical survey. These were a possible cultivation furrow or drainage feature, a large pit and a drainage ditch or field boundary. No artefacts were recovered by which the features could be dated. <1>
