EHG5276 - Trial Trenching - Land south of Golf View Terrace, Torvean

An archaeological evaluation was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group in 2016 in advance of construction of the new houses at Golf View Terrace, Torvean, Inverness. The evaluation was required in order to inform developers of the potential archaeology that could be found during later phases of the development. Fieldwork was carried out between February 22nd and March 14th 2016 alongside fieldwork for the new golf course development (see EHG5162). In total, eight previously unknown archaeological sites were recorded, consisting mainly of pits of probable prehistoric origin and one linear ditch feature. Multiple field drains were also recorded. Further work was recommended ahead of development of the site. <1>
