Date

Jule 2018

Description

An archaeological walkover survey and desk-based assessment undertaken on land at A’Chailleach, on the north shore of Loch Arkaig in advance of installation of a new hydro scheme. The survey was required as the proposed development is located in an area with potential for the presence of unrecorded historic environment features. The walkover survey was undertaken on 27th June 2018. Fifteen archaeological sites were recorded, including boundary dykes, postmedieval structures, enclosures and numerous clearance cairns. A assessment of the cultural heritage significance has been made and a mitigation strategy is proposed to safeguard the sites from damage during the installation of the new hydro scheme.<1>
