EHG540 - Walkover survey - proposed route of water main, Backies to Helmsdale

A walkover survey was carried out by C Dagg in July 2000 in advance of a proposed water main pipeline between Backies and Helmsdale, Sutherland. An approximate 20m buffer area along the pipeline route was surveyed and all sites marked on the Highland HER within 100 metres of the proposed pipeline were also visited. Thirty-eight archaeological sites, or groupings of sites, were identified along the route. Several recommendations were provided to protect certain sites which may have been at risk during the development. <1>
