Technique(s)

Organisation

Date

May 2018

Description

An archaeological desk-based assessment and walkover survey were undertaken by AECOM in 2018 to partially discharge planning conditions applied to the B9090 White Bridge Realignment scheme. This scheme will see the existing Category A listed bridge, known as White Bridge, which carries the B9090 over the River Nairn, bypassed through the construction of a new section of road and bridge. A study area of 500m from the site red line boundary was assessed to place heritage assets within their wider context and to understand the historic landscape within which they are located. As the scheme has been granted planning consent, the submitted report does not present an assessment of the potential effects of the development on heritage assets. It is designed to provide a background to the archaeology of the development site and the surrounding area, and to help inform the programme of evaluation trenching that also forms a condition of the planning consent. <1>
