Technique(s)
Organisation
AOC Archaeology Group
Date
Dec 2018
Description
An archaeological evaluation was carried out by AOC Archaeology Group on land northeast of King George Park, Fortrose, in advance of the construction of a 40-bed care home and associated infrastructure. The evaluation was required due to the presence of known significant archaeological sites within the immediate area. Nine trenches were excavated across the site sampling an area totalling 685m². Ten archaeological features were uncovered comprising three post holes, four pits, a curvilinear feature, a field drain, and a clearance cairn. A watching brief on further ground-breaking work was recommended to identify any further features. <1>
