EHG5518 - Trial trenching - proposed chapel site, Tanera Mor

Technique(s)

Organisation

Catherine Dagg

Date

June 2018

Description

An archaeological evaluation comprising two trenches was carried out by C Dagg in 2018 on the site of a proposed chapel and access track or path on Tanera Mor. This concluded that the site contained no anthropogenic deposits, artifacts or structures other than the mortared setting of a former wooden post. Probing with a rod across the whole area of the proposed building produced a result indicating that the bedrock was, as in Trench 2, very close to the surface, offering no possibility for archaeological deposits or structures. <1>
